Career

Edgar is partner at the GC since 2004 where he heads the civil and commercial litigation and co-chairs the administrative practice areas. Edgar is currently member of the GC’s Executive Committee.

Edgar’s thorough knowledge, strategic perspective, and pragmatic approach at addressing complex matters, allow him to successfully assess legal contingencies and outline the best course of action on a case-by-case basis. His practice includes complex business litigation, constitutional matters, bankruptcy, restructuring, insolvency, prosecution and defense of fraudulent conveyance actions, fiduciary, and civil litigation, as well as for several other dispute resolution matters.

Edgar is also knowledgeable in comparative law, international judicial process cooperation, and enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitration awards before judicial authorities in Mexico. His practice includes representing clients in civil, commercial, and administrative procedures before any type of governmental authorities and entities at State and Federal level.

Edgar has developed a strong consumer and data protection practice, where he represents clients before Mexico’s Consumer Protection Bureau (Procuraduría Federal de Protección al Consumidor – PROFECO) and the National Institute for Transparency, Access to Information and Personal Data Protection (Instituto Nacional de Transparencia, Acceso a la Información y Protección de Datos Personales – INAI).

Across his practice, Edgar has led and accomplished relevant resolutions from Mexico’s Supreme Court on behalf of his clients.

Gonzalez Calvillo‘s nine-strong team disputes team assists its clients – most frequently the Mexican subsidiaries of multinationals from a range of sectors – with administrative, civil, commercial and constitutional litigation, along with -when necessary- bankruptcy litigation. Class actions have been a particular recent highlight for the team, most often led by senior practice figure Edgar Grajeda, who, with almost 20 years’ experience as a partner, is deeply knowledgeable regarding civil and commercial litigation. Grajeda co-directs the practice with Daniel Morán, whose handles complex civil and commercial litigation, as well as acting energy and real estate controversies, judicial reviews derived from public tenders, administrative sanctioning procedures, nullity trials, and amparo proceedings.
