Nicolás Yuraszeck has been Partner since 2020. He joined the Firm in 2009.

He is part of the Corporate Law team of the Firm, focused on infrastructure and construction projects, energy and natural resources, project finance, corporate law, mergers and acquisitions. In recent years, he has been involved in several infrastructure projects, M&A transactions and project finance in the nergy and natural resources sectors, especially in tender processes and contract negotiations of BOT, BOO, EPC, BoP and O&M, complementing his strong expertise in these fields with his postgraduate studies in tax law and finance.

He also has experience in Mergers and Acquisitions, advising clients in different areas, including energy, food, retail, among others. Additionally, he is part of the Antitrust team, in which he participates in the merger control studies and filings before the Fiscalía Nacional Económica (Chilean Antitrust Prosecutor).

He studied law at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, earning his law degree with two distinction votes in 2007. He also completed a Master degree in Tax Administration and Management at Universidad Adolfo Ibañez (2012-2013) and a MSc in Law and Finance at Queen Mary University of London in 2016.

He worked at CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang (2016), where he worked in the construction group. Also, during 2017 he worked as a foreign lawyer at the Capital Markets group of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton (London), where he was involved in several capital markets and M&A transactions.

He is a member of the Chilean Bar Association.

Chile > Competition and antitrust

Prieto Abogados‘ four-strong team is consistently engaged by large companies to advise on contentious and non-contentious cases before the TDLC, with recent matters involving the retail, agriculture/dairy products, energy, banking and transport sectors. It is also experienced in acting before the FNE in cartel and abuse of dominant positions, and assisting with merger control reviews and compliance programmes. Benjamín Grebe heads the antitrust group, which includes recently promoted partner Nicolás Yuraszeck, who is experienced in merger review processes, and associate Santiago Errázuriz, who relocated from the firm’s litigation department. Since publication, the team has been further strengthened with the hire of associate Andrea von Chrismar from Quintanilla & Busel Niedmann  in December 2020.

Prieto Abogados‘ sizeable 20-member department has an established practice in the energy, gas and water and sewage sectors. It is experienced in advising developers and owners on clean energy projects, such as mini-hydro, photo-voltaic and wind farms. It also assists clients with the development of innovative technologies for the sector, including advice on energy storage, hydrogen fuel and renewables. M&A head Juan Tagle is also active in the energy and natural resources team, and Claudio Undurraga is an energy and arbitration specialist. Tagle advises on power plant construction, gas and electricity purchase contracts, joining ventures and bidding; he also has knowledge of the ports sector. Also key to the group are compliance head José Andrés Pascual, and recently appointed partner, projects and infrastructure head Nicolás Yuraszeck, who advises on construction projects, financing transactions, and contracts ranging from EPC and O&M agreements to fuel supply and transportation contracts. Experienced associate Camila Kutz is a name to note. Since publication the practice has been boosted substantially with the incorporation of a team from the former Baraona & Fischer comprising Federico Rodríguez, who arrives as counsel, and senior associates Andrés Maldini and Jorge Echeverría in March 2021; the group has particular experience in generation projects (solar, thermic and hydro), as well as mining (notably the lithium segment).
