Career

Tomás Araya has acted as legal counsel in different types of domestic and international business, such as capital market transactions, financing, debt restructuring, M&A, project finance and real estate projects.

Mr. Araya has specialized in financial restructuring transactions, having represented debtors and creditors – including domestic and foreign banks – in several debt restructuring proceedings. He has also actively worked on complex litigation cases, some of them involving cross border insolvency claims.

In addition, Mr. Araya has led working teams in several M&A cases in industries like pharmaceuticals, oil & gas, food and retail, among others, being directly involved in the due diligence process and in negotiation.

He has participated in the issuance of bonds, acting on behalf of issuers as well as arrangers and placement agents.
