Partner that leads Guerrero Olivos´ mining practice and also our venture capital and private investment funds departments. He assists local and international companies in mining related matters, including corporate and M&A, joint ventures, regulatory, financing, project finance, litigation, contracts and technical mining work.
He is Professor of the course “Emprendimiento y Venture Capital”, from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile´s Master in Law.
He was speaker at “XV Jornadas de Derecho de Minería”, from Universidad de Chile (2017).
Also, he worked in the Chinese law firm Global Law Office as foreign associate.

He is an active member in the Chilean- Pacific Foundation. He also keenly participates in SONAMI (Mining National Corporation) as a legal consultant in regulatory matters and he is chairman of the Mining Committee of CESCO and is a permanent advisor for Asian investors regarding mining and energy projects.
He is Director of Administradora Mater, Administradora Bridge and Empresa Eléctrica Blanco, Aaktei Energía S.A., Lácteos Matthei and Colegio San Lorenzo.
He graduated from Universidad Diego Portales School of Law with honors (2001) and has a Master of Laws in Chinese Law (LL.M.), from the National University of Singapore (2005).

‘Really impressing‘ clients, Guerrero Olivos‘ 11-strong team is regularly involved in the development and operation of significant mining projects in Chile. Key areas of work include high-value mining project acquisitions, financing, joint ventures and M&A transactions, alongside advising on environmental issues, and regulatory and permitting matters. Practice head Pedro Lyon focuses on mining-related project development and finance (and associated structuring), mining agreements, regulatory matters and environmental permits; while Marco Zavala advises local and international mining companies on both transactional activity and mining regulatory issues, and is active in both (mining) project finance and development work. An integral member of the team, Benjamín Pérez was made partner in January 2020; he focuses on regulatory, environmental and exploration matters.
Guerrero Olivos‘ 24-strong department, including eight partners, is highly rated for its expertise in structured corporate loans, acquisition and project finance, restructurings, refinancing and regulatory advice. The practice fields several impressive partners: Jorge Delpiano, a banking and capital markets specialist; Roberto Guerrero V, who has over 20 years’ banking and finance expertise; Juan Enrique Allard (financial restructurings and acquisition finance); and Pedro Lyon, who assists with the creation of financial structures for investment funds’ investments. The second line of partners includes the increasingly prominent Macarena Ravinet , energy project finance specialist Sebastián Abogabir and Miguel Coddou (partner as of January 2020). Other active members include senior associate Benjamín Novoa (who rejoined in 2019 after working at White & Case LLP‘s Miami office for a year), and associates Felipe Frühling and Diego Rodríguez. However, since publication it has been confirmed that Guerrero and Ravinet will be leaving the firm, as of years end.
Guerrero Olivos has enjoyed significant involvement in the venture capital market for over a decade. The six-strong department advises local and foreign VC investors, start-ups, corporate funds and incubators on the legal structuring of funds and investment vehicles, including corporate venture funds. Other typical work includes assisting with financing rounds, tax structures, future investment rounds, internationalisation procedures, stock option plans, and the registration and protection of IP. In addition, the practice acts on contracts with technological components, such as licensing, distribution, partnership, data protection and cybersecurity issues. Practice head Pedro Lyon has a particular specialisation in the structuring of private investment funds. However, since publication, it has become public that young partner Josefina Yávar, also active in the sector, will leave the firm as of 31st December 2020.
Guerrero Olivos fields a 14-strong team that includes experienced partner Jorge Delpiano, Roberto Guerrero V (who specialises in cross-border debt and equity transactions), and funds expert Pedro Lyon. Providing strong support are recently promoted partner, Miguel Coddou, who specialises in commercial paper registrations, debt refinancings, and issuances of senior secured notes and securitisation; and senior associate César Gálvez, who rejoined the team after a year at Winston & Strawn LLP‘s New York-based capital markets department. Since publication it has become public that Guerrero is due to leave the firm as of 31st December 2020.
Guerrero Olivos‘ sizeable, 20-strong group (including six partners) is focused on project finance and development (including regulatory advice), within the energy, mining and infrastructure (including desalination plant) sectors. Clemente Pérez‘s broad practice covers energy and non-conventional renewable energy (NCRE) project development, energy project finance and M&A, regulatory issues, private and public bids, public works’ concession permits, and environmental matters; while Pedro Lyon is the key figure for mining matters. The deep partner-level bench also includes project finance expert Macarena Ravinet , energy project finance specialist Sebastián Abogabir, and recently promoted Miguel Coddou. Senior associate Benjamín Novoa and associate Felipe Frühling provide further support. Since publication it has become public that Ravinet will be leaving the firm as of 31st December 2020.
The last year has seen Guerrero Olivos‘ 34-strong department – which includes 10 partners – particularly active in international M&A deals in the energy, pharmaceuticals and TMT sectors. With a sharp focus on complex corporate matters, this increasingly sophisticated team’s other areas of strength include corporate reorganisations; it also includes a specialised venture capital group that works with a number of investment platforms established in Chile. An impressive partner list includes managing partner Roberto Guerrero V, Jorge Delpiano and Pedro Pellegrini, who all handle M&A, governance and restructuring; Macarena Ravinet , who in addition to the foregoing, also covers corporate finance and private equity matters; Juan Enrique Allard, who handles regulated industry M&A and restructurings – particularly in the telecoms sector; and Pedro Lyon, head of the firm’s private equity and venture capital area. Two of the firm’s key corporate specialists, Josefina Yávar and Tomás Kubick , became partners in January 2020. Since publication, the firm has announced the departure of four partners -Guerrero, Ravinet, Yávar and Kubick- to Cuatrecasas, effective as of year’s end; the firm has subsequently moved to strengthen the team, hiring three associates -including Florencia Cortés from Rivadeneira Colombara Zegers– in February 2021.
