Guerrero Olivos‘ eight-member department has a strong name for its expertise in the mining and metals and energy industries, while its key areas of work include antitrust litigation, M&A-related competition work, FNE investigatory proceedings, and merger control procedures. Growth areas include advising on compliance manuals and antitrust corporate protocols. Pedro Pellegrini is experienced in addressing competition-related corporate risks and defending investigatory proceedings; Eduardo Cordero and José Gabriel Undurraga contribute to the team from a regulatory angle; and Alejandra Leiton is a key antitrust associate. August 2020 saw the arrival of Juan José García, previously a FNE litigator; however, former partner Tomás Kubick and senior associate Jaime Barahona moved to Cuatrecasas and the TDLC, respectively, during the course second half of the year.
‘One of the most important law firms in Chile‘, Guerrero Olivos‘ four-member compliance group particularly stands out for its representation of companies from the mining and metals and energy sectors. The team was recently particularly active in the development of tailored compliance and crime prevention manuals, as well as regarding corporate protocols; its assistance ranges from business-model risk assessments to potential breach analysis, training, internal codes of conduct, and corporate regulations and procedures. The practice also regularly works alongside its corporate governance, competition, environment, tax, labour, banking and finance and regulatory colleagues on anti-corruption, corporate criminal liability, AML and freedom of information law issues. Team leader Pedro Pellegrini is a governance specialist, while associate Alejandra Leiton also plays an active role on compliance matters.
Guerrero Olivos‘ 24-strong department is particularly focused on international M&A in the TMT and energy and natural resources sectors, as well as deals involving the food and beverage and retail markets. Jorge Delpiano (‘proactive in generating proposals that resolve conflict points‘) and Pedro Pellegrini both focus on M&A, corporate restructurings and corporate governance; Juan Enrique Allard assists international clients from the TMT and energy industries with M&A and corporate reorganisations; and Pedro Lyon is highly regarded for mining-related M&A and private equity matters. Also active within the corporate and M&A team are senior associate César Gálvez and associate Diego Rodríguez, while recent hires -in February 2021- saw the recruitment of three associates, including Florencia Cortés, who was previously at Rivadeneira Colombara Zegers. Former managing partner Roberto Guerrero V, along with partners Macarena Ravinet, Josefina Yávar and Tomás Kubick all moved to Cuatrecasas‘ new office in January 2021.
