Barros & Errázuriz‘s 12-strong team (many of whom previously served at the Ministry of Environment, the Environmental Assessment Agency or the Environmental Superintendence) provides full life-cycle advice on projects, ranging from planning to operation to closure, including due diligence, project finance, environmental assessments, permitting issues, social conflicts and community matters. Other principal focuses include relations with local authorities, compliance issues, litigation before the environmental and ordinary courts, and enforcement proceedings. Counsel Matías Montoya, whose practice is focused on environmental assessment processes, environmental compliance, litigation and due diligence, heads up the environmental practice, and works in close association with Fernando Garrido, who leads the regulated industries department. Counsel Cristóbal Pellegrini advises on corporate matters and regulated markets, with senior associate support provided by Mara Angelini and Ignacio Urbina.
