Position

Partner. He is the head of the insurance & reinsurance team and specializes in insurance, reinsurance, commercial litigation and international arbitration. He has been lately involved in insurance and reinsurance regulatory issues and mergers and acquisitions of both insurance and reinsurance companies. His work is focused on advising general and life insurance companies, reinsurers, insurance consultants, brokers and companies, both local and foreign, and foreign law offices, on these matters.

Career

Clyde & Co., Denton Wilde Sapte, Lloyd’s of London, 1999-2000. Barlow Lyde & Gilbert, 2003-04. Joined Allende & Brea in 2003 and became a partner in 2007. Over the years, he has been involved in international commercial litigation and reinsurance arbitration. Further he has drafted and adapted reinsurance contracts, life insurance policies, A&H, civil liability, D&O, E&O, BBB, Crime, environmental insurance, cyber risks and public officers coverage for major international insurers and reinsurers. In 1999, he was an intern at the International Maritime Organization – UN (London – UK) to practice marine insurance. In 2000 he was called by Lloyd’s of London to work, together with its international and legal departments, on a project submitted to the Argentine Superintendence of Insurance to obtain the registration of Lloyd’s in Argentina as a sole reinsurance entity. At Lloyd’s of London, he attended the “Regulator’s Programme”, which was intended for having insurance superintendents from several countries get to know how the Lloyd’s market operates. In February 2013 he was appointed attorney-in-fact for Lloyd’s of London in Argentina.

Mr. Argañaraz Luque is a member of the insurance committee of the International Bar Association (Scholar Conference of SBL Cancun – Mexico 2001 and Durban – South Africa 2002); the American Chamber of Commerce – Insurance Committee (Vice President in 2009 and 2010); the Society of British and Argentine Lawyers (SOBAL); the Insurance Lawyers Club; the Association Internationale de Droit des Assurances (A.I.D.A.), of Insuralex and the Argentine Association of Risk Managers (ADARA).
