Career

Rafael Gomes has been a member of our Brasilia office for more than 15 years and primarily focuses his practice on Tax & Customs litigation before higher Courts located in Brasilia, in both Judicial and Administrative spheres (i.e. Brazilian Supreme and Superior Court; Federal Revenue Board of Appeals – CARF, National Telecommunication Agency – ANATEL). He provides support for our clients in all phases of judicial lawsuits and administrative requests, drafting and reviewing all sort of petitions and appeals in high complex tax cases, specially performing oral arguments, almost every week.

In his practice, Mr. Gomes represents multinationals companies from several activities and business niches, such as telecommunication, oil & gas, mining, pharmaceutical, heavy industry, IT, agribusiness and tobacco.

Considering his experience with judicial and administrative precedents, he also provides consultancy for Brazilian and foreign clients in various tax aspects, i.e. corporate income tax, tax on services, VAT, social contributions, etc.

Mr. Gomes also works in due diligences, identifying and measuring possible taxes liabilities.

Clients value Mr. Gomes direct approach to intricated disputes and his long experience with dealing with tax authorities from IRS and local State officials, especially located in Brasilia and Goias, to provide reachable solutions for their problems.
