WALKERS has recently experienced a significant expansion of its insurance offering following the addition of renowned insurance expert Kate Storey from Appleby. The full-service practice provides leading advice on the establishment and administration of captive insurance vehicles, insurance-linked securities and alternative risk transfer transactions, collateralised reinsurance transactions and general regulatory advice. On the corporate side, the firm handles M&A transactions, joint venture terminations and the creation of insurers in the Guernsey market.
Appleby‘s finance practice, led by Jeremy Berchem, covers a mix of work ranging from fund finance through to real estate deals and corporate lending, as well as regulatory matters. Below partner level, counsel Chet Pohl and senior associate Nicole Sorbie have track records of working with the firm’s partners on large fund finance facilities. Kate Storey is now at WALKERS.
Appleby‘s handles various mandates concerning listed and private funds, some of which involve collateralised loan obligations, with counsel Chet Pohl. Kate Storey left in mid-2018 to join WALKERS, and in September 2019 Andrew Harding returned to the Isle of Man, joining DQ.
