Chris Hutley-Hurst is a Senior Counsel in Walkers’ Investment Funds & Corporate Practice Group in Guernsey.

Chris is a Guernsey Advocate with considerable experience as an offshore lawyer – he advises on all aspects of investment fund and corporate transactions, including investment fund formation, acquisitions, disposals and regulatory matters.

He also advises on economic substance and taxation matters, having worked as a tax lawyer while practising onshore.

Chris has experience of working in London and New York.


Chris spent six years working with another leading offshore law firm in Guernsey before joining Walkers’ Guernsey office in January 2021.

Prior to that he spent a combined 12 years working in the London offices of two leading US law firms, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom (UK) LLP, and Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton LLP, spending a year in the New York office of the latter.

Walkers‘ investment fund and corporate team grew in 2022, with the arrival of Craig Cordle from Ogier, adding an experienced hand in fund structuring and transactions. The group is jointly led by Kate Storey , whose practice spans investment fund structuring and finance, as well as equity raising and listings; and managing partner Matt Sanders , who often coordinates multijurisdictional fund deals involving the Channel Islands and London offices. Chris Hutley-Hurst has substantial experience in private equity fund and listed fund formation, as well as a variety of fund transactions. Senior counsel Jessica Robinson is a lawyer to watch for transactional issues.

Chris Hutley-Hurst (‘clear and commercial in his advice‘) provides corporate tax advice, in addition to handling regulatory aspects of corporate and commercial activities. Recently promoted senior counsel Jessica Robinson has built a practice involving trust companies and in April 2022, Craig Cordle joined the group from Ogier.
