Career

Martin is a competition law specialist has been at the forefront of developments in this area since the commencement of the Competition Act in September 1999. He also has extensive knowledge of the medical industry and regulation thereof. Over the past 18 years Martin has been involved in numerous high profile competition matters in both South Africa and across a number of African countries. Over the years Martin has developed particular expertise in the construction, tobacco, aviation, health, forestry, freight, fishing, liquid fuels, pharmaceuticals, shipping, sugar , pay TV sectors and the fire protection industry.

His expertise has been recognised by numerous international research organisations including Chambers Global (Competition/ Antitrust), IFLR1000 (Competition), Legal 500 (Competition), Who’s Who Legal (Competition) and Best Lawyer 2008 – 2020. He is also the co-author of a book on competition law, A Practical Guide to the South African Competition Act, the second edition of which was published in May 2017.
