Career

Burton specialises in all aspects of competition and consumer protection laws.   In competition law matters, he has advised and assisted in cartel investigations and merger proceedings. He also advises on competition law compliance training and implementing compliance programmes.  His experience includes matters in South Africa, but also across various African jurisdictions.

His experience in consumer law includes providing opinions, drafting and reviewing agreements, drafting terms and conditions, advising on promotional competitions, developing industry codes in terms of the applicable legislation, franchising advice and drafting and implementing consumer law compliance manuals.  He also has regulatory experience in advising on procurement and supply chain management having completed a secondment as legal adviser to the South African Post Office.
