Career

Charles Douglas heads Bowmans’ M&A Practice.

He specialises in mergers and acquisitions and equity capital markets. Charles’ experience includes public and private transactional work. From an equity capital markets perspective, Charles has experience with both primary and secondary offerings as well as more general listings work.

Charles has experience working in various African jurisdictions in addition to South Africa, including Angola, Botswana, the DRC, Kenya, Mauritius, Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Charles also has 18 months’ work experience in Sydney, Australia and is admitted as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of New South Wales.

Charles has a BA from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, an LLB from the University of Cape Town and an LLM from the University of the Witwatersrand.

Bowmans continues to impress in cross-border transactions, most notably for foreign multinationals, and is at the forefront of major corporate restructurings. It advised Datatec on its $830m disposal of a majority stake in its Westcon-Comstor business to Synnex. The firm also assisted Trinitas Private Equity Partnership with its acquisition of a $300m majority stake in AutoX from Powertech Industries.
