Career

He specialises in mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and securities law and is the relationship partner for a number of the firm’s major clients.

He is the former chair of the recent developments in M&A subcommittee of the Corporate and M&A Committee of the International Bar Association and the most recent chair of the Faculty Advisory Board of the Law School of the University of Cape Town. He is also trustee, director and patron of various charitable organisations focused on human rights, promoting the rule of law and sponsoring the education of academically talented students.

Ezra is a regular contributor to international M&A and equity capital markets publications and is co-contributor on the mergers’ chapter of the Modern Company Law text book. Ezra was the first practising African lawyer to be featured on the front cover of American Lawyer.

Bowmans continues to impress in cross-border transactions, most notably for foreign multinationals, and is at the forefront of major corporate restructurings. It advised Datatec on its $830m disposal of a majority stake in its Westcon-Comstor business to Synnex. The firm also assisted Trinitas Private Equity Partnership with its acquisition of a $300m majority stake in AutoX from Powertech Industries. The 'approachable and friendly' team 'performs with speed and accuracy' and 'helps make the deal happen'.
