Position

Faye Moffett is the Managing Partner of the Isle of Man office, Group Head of the Corporate department and Team Leader for the Banking and Asset Finance team, in the Isle of Man.

She specialises in general banking and finance transactions, including property finance, aircraft and ship finance matters. She has particular experience in providing opinions on Isle of Man companies and on cross­border security and insolvency issues.  Clients include Isle of Man companies, international financial institutions and international law firms.She is a notary public. 

Some recent examples of representative work include acting: as lender counsel in connection with a USD2.9 billion loan to Amaya Gaming Group Inc and its related companies; for Manx Telecom on its refinancing of the group in connection with its flotation on AIM; in connection with the financing of a major technology firm involving facilities of circa 300m USD advice was required in the Isle of Man and Guernsey.

Career

Qualified as an advocate in the Isle of Man 1997; solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales (non-practising) 1999; admitted as a solicitor of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (British Virgin Islands) 2010. Partner Appleby 2006.

Faye Moffett heads Appleby’s commercial property practice, assisting a strong list of international investment banks and financial institutions with structuring financing arrangements for significant property developments and acquisitions. Tom Brook is a go-to name for local commercial lending mandates while associate Alexandra Dernie received client praise for assisting the team on a number of the practice's leading matters. Further regular mandates for the team include drafting leasing arrangements, advising on mortgage transfers and appointing property receivers in respect to loan non-repayments.

Appleby provides high-net-worth individuals, institutional trustees, banks and family offices with the full range of contentious and non-contentious trust and estate advice. Faye Moffett handles mandates including trust consolidation, succession planning and sub-trust establishments, while Mark Holligon advises both trustees and beneficiaries in trust disputes and trust terminations. The contentious offering is further enhanced with associate Erin Trimble-Cregeen , who acts on a broad range of multi-jurisdictional disputes alongside Holligon. Previous practice head David Pytches recently left the firm for Walkers in Grand Cayman.
