Appleby is, for some, ‘the best litigation team on the Isle of Man, both in the quality of its lawyers and the strength and connectivity that comes from the wider Appleby platform’. The team broadly focuses on commercial litigation, trust disputes and insolvency, and advised Deloitte on the high-profile liquidation of the Arcadia Group. Mark Holligon leads the firm’s dispute resolution team globally and is highly skilled in multi-jurisdictional disputes, particularly involving distressed assets and restructuring. Restructuring is also an area focus for Caren Pegg who also advised on the Arcadia collapse. Professional negligence and employment are two other areas of interest. Other key members of the team include: Charles Davies, an expert in fraud, insolvency and trust litigation; Christopher Cope, who has a particular focus on asset tracing and recovery: and Claire Corkish, who stands out for her expertise in obtaining injunctive relief and disclosure orders. Senior associate Erin Trimble-Cregeen is also recommended.
