Corey E. Light is co-chair of Greenberg Traurig's Global Real Estate Practice. With nearly 30 years of domestic and international experience, Corey focuses his practice on real estate transactions and development. Representing major retailers, property owners, developers, and lenders, Corey regularly handles all aspects of complex commercial real estate transactions including joint ventures, financings, and the acquisition and disposition of commercial property. Additionally, Corey has been involved in the representation of major retail developers in a number of large retail bankruptcies and in the related acquisition and disposition of large portfolios of retail properties.

Greenberg Traurig, LLP handles all aspects of real estate work, including acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures, development, management, leasing, financing, restructuring and land use.Chicago-based Corey Light advised on the sale and leaseback of around 100 stores across the US with an aggregate value of $1bn. Light, Nancy Lash and Miami-based Gary Saul advised Kimco Realty on its $400m development of Dania Pointe in Florida. Orlando-based Michael Sullivan advised Loews Hotels Holding on a joint venture with NBC Universal for the development of two hotels in Orlando and a construction loan facility from Wells Fargo Bank. Miami-based Richard Giusto acted for Invesco on the $268m acquisition of a six-building complex in Washington state that was leased to Microsoft. From the firm's New York office, Stephen Rabinowitz advises private equity funds, financial institutions, developers and other investors on transactional matters relating to all classes of commercial properties. Robert Ivanhoe, who is also based in New York, specializes in real estate structures, financing, workouts, restructurings, and acquisitions and dispositions. Los Angeles-based Gregory Fishman, New York-based Kristen Lonergan and Farah Ahmed are also recommended.

Greenberg Traurig, LLP is highly regarded for its involvement in all aspects of a REIT’s life cycle, including IPOs, follow-on offerings, internalizations, corporate governance, M&A, dispositions and other exit strategies. The client list boasts Black Creek Industrial REIT IV, Rodin Global Property Trust and Hines Global REIT. Joseph Herz led advice to Rodin Global Property Trust, as corporate and securities counsel, on its $1.25bn continuous IPO of common shares. The names to note are co-chair of the REIT Practice Robert Ivanhoe, who is also global real estate chair, and co-global real estate chair Corey Light in Chicago, along with Bennett Deutsch, Yuta Delarck and tax experts Jennifer Weiss in Boston and Carl Riley. Former group lead Judith Fryer retired from the practice and Alice Connaughton left for Morrison & Foerster LLP's Washington DC office.
