Jason Piney is a Director in the Corporate department in the Bermuda office of Conyers Dill & Pearman. Jason joined Conyers in 2005 and became a Director in 2012.

Jason’s practice covers general corporate and commercial matters with particular focus on public companies, securities and financing. Jason has extensive experience in a wide variety of international asset finance and corporate transactions, including debt and equity offerings, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and cross-border financings. Jason has particular expertise in financings involving aircraft, including aircraft acquisitions and dispositions, aircraft portfolio securitizations, sale-leasebacks, pre-delivery payment and warehouse facilities and he has worked on several of the most significant aircraft securitizations and financings in the market.

While the team at Conyers is highly regarded for its expertise in IPOs and securitisations, it has also seen an uptick in international asset finance transactions, particularly matters relating to shipping and aircraft financing issues; the group has key expertise in the shipping and offshore energy sectors in Norway, North America and Asia. The practice is spearheaded by Graham Collis, and includes directors Neil Henderson, Sophia Greaves, Marcello Ausenda, Jason Piney and Victor Richards, who has a particular focus on shipping and aircraft matters. In a recent highlight, a team led by Richards advised Carnival on the completion of its $6bn financing via two tranches of notes. Counsel Angela Atherden and associate Edward Rance are key junior members of the practice. David Cooke retired in 2020.

Conyers fields corporate specialists with considerable experience advising on M&A, corporate restructurings, insurance issues, and shipping and aircraft matters. The team in Bermuda is led by Graham Collis, who has expertise encompassing general corporate and commercial work, particularly in the insurance space. Within the wider team, director Marcello Ausenda has a particular focus on public company work, securities matters, financing issues, and corporate relocations and restructurings; and Jason Piney recently advised to Aircastle on the completion of its $7.4bn merger with Marubeni and a Mizuho affiliate.
