Marcello Ausenda led advice to LVMH Moët Hennessy-Louis Vuitton, which owns iconic brands such as Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior and Dom Pérignon, on its acquisition of the Belmond hotel group; Neil Henderson and Niel Jones acted for Thomson Reuters on the sale of a majority stake in its financial and risk unit to The Blackstone Group; and David Cooke assisted Nuance Communications with the $400m sale of its document imaging division to Kofax. The Bermuda practice is singled out for its strength in international commercial litigation, trust disputes and restructuring, insolvency, and insurance cases. Christian Luthi, who leads the litigation and restructuring departments, recently worked with the firm's Hong Kong office to advise Noble Group Holdings on the successful $3.5bn debt restructuring of Noble Group of Companies, which involved parallel schemes of arrangements in both the UK and Bermuda. Jeffrey Elkinson is a highly regarded trusts and estates practitioner, and Ben Adamson has been involved in high-value cross-border commercial and trust disputes. Insurance/reinsurance Tier 1

The practice's experience includes handling the Bermuda law aspects of the formation, licensing and capital raising for new general business insurers, life insurers and reinsurers; regulatory matters, financing needs, capital raisings, M&A activity, and listing requirements. Bermuda insurance practice head Charles Collis advises on corporate and regulatory matters; he led advice to Apollo Global Management on its acquisition of Aspen Insurance Holdings. Conyers Dill & Pearman attracts praise for its assistance with the creation of private trust companies, cross-border restructurings and the modification and variation of trusts. The team also has a robust contentious trust practice, which handles the protection of family wealth from divorce and other litigation. Director Alec Anderson is global head of private client and trusts, as well as being president of the firm's Trust Services, a licensed trust company and controlled affiliate of the firm. Anderson specialises in trust and estate planning for international private clients, and advises professional trustees on trust law liability and trust structuring issues. The group typically handles complex residential and commercial real estate acquisitions and sales, leases, property financing work, and real estate disputes and arbitrations. Counsel Francesca Fox heads up the Bermuda property department and is recommended for all aspects of commercial and residential real estate including issues that arise for non-Bermudian purchasers and lenders under The Bermuda Immigration and Protection Act 1956. Senior attorney Harry Kessaram has substantial experience across residential and commercial property transfers and major hotel real estate transactions; and associate Cynthia Millett is a noteworthy practitioner.
