Shook, Hardy & Bacon’s London group offers an elite, globally recognised product liability practice, focused on providing litigation defence, regulatory strategy and risk management counselling to multinational corporations that produce many of the world’s leading brands. The experienced London group of product liability lawyers is supported by a 125-member, US-based in-house research analyst team comprising specialists in numerous scientific and technological disciplines. Shook advises on all aspects of regulatory and risk management, product recall procedures, defence of product liability claims, and matters that require careful navigation of international jurisdictions and procedures. In addition to the product liability focus, Shook London’s health and safety law team works in partnership with companies to implement and update health and safety policies, strategies and procedures, and to address all aspects of health and safety compliance at a national and European level. Shook lawyers are experienced in crisis management, assisting with internal and external health and safety investigations, working with HSE, police and coroners, advising as to interviews under caution, attending inquests and representing clients at both Magistrate and Crown Court level.

Sector strengths include pharmaceuticals and medical devices, automotive, food and beverage, tobacco, electronics and consumer products. Clients are major multinational corporations, which produce many of the world’s best-known brands, and include Boston Scientific Corporation, Daimler AG and Philip Morris International. Client relationships have grown over many years and commonly extend into broader regulatory advisory roles. Other clients include Japanese insurers and their insureds (predominantly global consumer products manufacturers).

International

Much of Shook’s London-based work is international, due to the group’s expertise in the defence and coordination of global product litigation, consumer product regulation, international recall procedures and processes, and its global network and language capabilities. Shook attorneys manage cases in numerous European jurisdictions, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific, in cooperation with accomplished local product liability attorneys in more than 65 countries. Shook’s long-established and extensive network of national counsel across the globe allows the team to assist clients with product liability litigation, product recalls and advice on regulatory compliance wherever it may arise. This includes devising and ensuring compliance with strategies to ensure the consistent and successful defence of multi-jurisdictional claims.
