The firm: The London office, established in 1999, is experienced in both UK domestic and cross-border transactions and offers a range of legal services under both English and US law.

Types of work undertaken: The global technology, outsourcing and data protection team provides advice on technology, outsourcing and offshoring, commercial contracts, data protection and privacy, and cybersecurity matters. The firm’s lawyers counsel clients on a variety of outsourcing and managed services arrangements, and offer assistance on all facets of compliance with European data protection law, including assessing the impact of the GDPR and implementing a strategy for compliance, conducting privacy and information security assessments, advising on the implementation of legal mechanisms for transferring data (eg BCRs, APEC cross-border privacy rules and model clauses), preventing and managing cyber events, responding to information security breaches, and information governance issues.

The energy and infrastructure team provides a full range of legal services in connection with the development, financing, operation and restructuring of projects, including significant experience with public-private partnership matters. The team advises leading financial institutions, multinational sponsors and governments with project finance and development transactions in Europe, Asia, Australia, the Americas, Africa and the Middle East across a range of sectors, including oil and gas, mining and minerals, renewables and infrastructure.

The London M&A team has experience in structuring and advising on all aspects of domestic and international M&A transactions.

The firm has substantial experience in London, other European and US capital markets, including representation of issuers, sponsors and underwriters in IPOs and secondary offerings, in both debt and equity securities markets.

Hunton & Williams’ banking and finance team advises borrowers, banks and financial institutions on secured and unsecured syndicated and bilateral credits in a wide range of industries. The firm is also active in the leveraged, real estate and corporate sectors in particular, as well as advising on complex structured and limited recourse transactions as well as restructuring and insolvency. The London office also advises on a range of big-ticket asset finance transactions, including operating and finance leases of transportation assets.
