Winston & Strawn LLP scored a string of significant victories and achieved settlement in landmark cases last year. The firm acted for Omnicare in a class action in the Supreme Court, which ruled in favor of the defendant in one of the most important ‘33 Act decisions of recent years. The case overturned the Sixth Circuit’s judgment that a claim based solely on a statement of opinion need only allege that the opinion turned out to be wrong. John Schreiber in Los Angeles, and, in New York, James Smith and Richard Reinthaler were the key partners involved.
