White & Case S.C. fields a respected 10-strong practice, which garners praise for providing ‘solid and innovative solutions’ when advising clients from various industries on contentious and non-contentious matters. Led by partner Henri Capin Gally, the department has remained busy handling merger control mandates related to international transactions, as well as monopolistic practices investigations. Further partner presence in the team comes from Vicente Corta; TMT specialist and litigator Ismael Reyes Retana; and seasoned litigator Antonio Cárdenas. Senior associate Román González brings in key support. Recent work highlights include representing AeroMexico in an amparo trial against a resolution issued by the Federal Antitrust Commission which ruled that the airline’s scheduling of take-offs and landings at Mexico City’s International Airport caused inefficiencies and had anticompetitive effects.
Able to draw on drawing upon the firm’s excellent international network, White & Case S.C.´s 16-strong Mexican practice advises major domestic and international corporations, commercial and investment banks, and private equity funds, on a wide range of complex cross-border M&A transactions. Recent headline work saw the department advise Sempra Energy on its $5.81bn acquisition of the remaining stake in Infraestructura Energética Nova (IEnova). Two partners co-lead the team: Álvaro Garza-Galván, who brings a strong mix of corporate/M&A and restructuring expertise to the table; and Henri Capin Gally, who also heads the firm’s antitrust practice in Mexico. Additional key members of the team include renowned market figure, Vicente Corta; and fellow partner Mauricio Valdespino, who focuses on mergers, acquisitions, spin-offs, joint ventures, strategic alliances, minority investments and asset sales. However, after almost 20 years at the firm, former practice co-head Francisco García-Naranjo, moved to Mayer Brown Mexico, S.C. in July 2021.
