Nicola co leads the Corporate Claims team. She assists clients with claims arising as a result of injuries caused to their staff or customers.  She was called to the Bar in 1997 and has a great deal of experience in dealing with multi-million pound, complex and multi-party actions, which she defends on behalf of our  clients.   She is often called upon to advise shortly after an incident has occurred to assist clients with their strategy in the aftermath of an event occurring.   Nicola is very experienced in protecting the reputation of her clients  and ensuring that any damage to their brand is minimised.

She is recommended in the 2012 edition of The Legal 500, for: "excellent knowledge, clear advice and strength in negotiation".

She leads training provided to clients on a host of topics and is an accomplished speaker.

Her experience includes:

  • Advising the board of FTSE 100 company on £10 million claim for catastrophic injury following a gas explosion. Advising on brand protection issues and successfully keeping our client out of the media.
  • Advising the board of a household name company on the strategy for dealing with issues arising out of unsuitable fleet of vehicles which were causing injury to their workforce.
  • Advising a global energy company on a brand protection strategy at an inquest into a fatal claim and publicity avoidance.
  • Obtaining a worldwide order freezing the assets of a manager employed by a household name company, who had defrauded the company of hundreds of thousands of pounds. The fraud came to light as a result of a whistleblower. Urgent action was required to prevent the funds which were later successfully recovered, from being removed. Nicola worked closely with the police and the fraudster was later imprisoned.
  • Advising the board of household name company on due diligence issues arising out of the sale of a business, following discovery of asbestos within their head office building and associated potential for hundreds of claims for injury as consequence of risk of exposure identified.
