Brexit and the legal implications for businesses

Mark Brunton is a partner in the Eversheds Company Commercial Practice Group. He specialises in advising on major projects in the railway sector and is expert in commercial contract drafting and negotiation in the regulated railway environment. He has a particular focus on rail franchise/concession agreements and infrastructure/rolling stock projects.

Examples of Mark's experience include:

  • Leading the Eversheds team that advised on the termination of the East Coast rail franchise and the  transfer of responsibility for the operation of  rail services to Directly Operated Railways Limited and its subsidiary East Coast Main Line Company Limited;
  • advising the Department for Transport on a number of rail franchise agreement amendments to implement the "HLOS" programme for providing additional passenger carrying capacity on crowded routes including in relation to South West Trains services 
  • advising the Department for Transport on a number of railway franchise letting competitions including in relation to the Greater Anglia franchise;
  • advising the Department for Transport on a number of railway franchise direct awards including the March 2015 Great Western rail franchise; 
  • leading the Eversheds team advising Chiltern Railways on the Project Evergreen 3 Chiltern Main Line infrastructure upgrade (including the creation of a new inter city route from London to Oxford via Bicester).

Mark is recognised in Chambers UK and Legal 500 as a leading individual in the rail sector.
