Mark is a Partner in our Corporate group and the Office Location Head for the Company Commercial Practice Group in Nottingham. He specialises in Corporate Recovery, Corporate Restructuring, reviewing and enforcing security for Lenders acting for Insolvency Practitioners/LPA Receivers and provision of Directors Duties advice to Corporate Directors.
His recent experience includes: representing 98% of Merchant Acquiring Industry (£600 billion plus) in a government consultation to maintain card payment transactions to risk industries; acting on the Administration of MG Rover Group Limited for PWC; acting for Deloitte LLP in the Administration of Blue Star Holdings Ltd; acting for KPMG in the Administration of Trent Concrete Limited; acting for Smith Cooper on the administration and sale of the Finesse Hotel Group; acting for PwC administrators in the Administration of W R Refrigeration Limited; Acting for Deloitte Administrators in the administration of Mark Group Limited and acting for board members/directors to protect them personally in a multitude of solvent restructuring processes and turnaround positions.
Mark has acted in many of the high profile Restructuring and Insolvency assignments in the East Midlands over the years and is the head of our Restructuring Practice in the region. The team occupies tier 1 status in both Legal directories for Restructuring and Insolvency work and is recognised as "a Restructuring Powerhouse" [Legal 500]. Mark is also a leading individual in the Legal directories where they comment, "he is a very good lawyer who is personable and easy-going" and "he gets the job done even in tricky cases" [Chambers & Partners].

Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP ‘provides the level of technical quality, client service and commercial acumen normally associated with a Magic Circle firm or large City practice’. With a ‘strong team across the board’ and the ‘outstanding’ and ‘technically rigorous’ Mark Wood at the helm, the practice is known for undertaking complex restructuring work, especially in the retail, financial services, energy and leisure sectors. Principal associate Ian Gill, senior associate Douglas Highet and associate Sharenaah Atwal are also noted. A major recent highlight was acting for the administrators of Feather & Black on issues related to the administration, including advice on trading issues and asset disposal. In other work, the group joined forces with its Madrid office to act for John Sisk to pursue actions in the standstill agreements of Duro Felguera. Other clients include Lloyds, KPMG and Mazars.
