Crisanto leads our Competition practice in Madrid. He specialises in EU law and Competition law including cartel enforcement, leniency applications, judicial appeals, compliance programs, and administrative proceedings for abuse of dominance and merger control.

He has written articles on Competition for Global Competition Review, PLC Competition, the national economic press and has collaborated with the authors of EC Procedure (Oxford, 2006, L. Blanco and K. Joergens).

He graduated from the University of Oviedo with a Law Degree, obtained a Master's in EU law from the University Carlos III of Madrid (I997) and a European law degree at the University of Amsterdam (I998). Cristanto was a former member of the Oviedo Bar (1994-2003), a member of the Brussels Bar (list E) during the period 1999-2003 and is a current member of the Madrid Bar. 

Member of the Academic Council of the LL M on EU law of Carlos III University of Madrid.

In addition to its work in shipping finance, the transport team at Eversheds Sutherland advises national and international infrastructure project investors, railway operators, airlines, public authorities and transport associations on a wide range of issues. Such matters include infrastructure project finance and refinance (motorways, trams), public-private collaboration models and procurement processes, and risk assessments for investors in auxiliary companies and projects. Headed by founding partner Jacobo Martínez, public law specialist Alberto Dorrego de Carlos, dispute resolution practice head Antonio Bravo and competition department leader Crisanto Pérez-Abad, the team’s client base covers the aerospace, aviation, defence and transport sectors. Manuel López, who has strong experience in project finance in the transport sector, joined in December 2021 from Ashurst LLP.

Eversheds Sutherland houses a small but solid EU and competition practice in Madrid, which covers all areas of competition law, with a particular strength in damages claims and cartel-related mandates.
