Wales > Corporate and commercial
With three partners focused on handling corporate work from the firm’s Cardiff office, and also able to leverage a significant national and international presence, Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP is particularly strong at handling upper/mid-market transactional work, often without a connection to the Welsh market. The firm is particularly strong at handling investments by private equity sponsors in the financial services and renewable energy sectors. Team head Paul Pugh has an excellent reputation for handling fintech M&A, while Michelle Davies and Charles Reynard regularly lead on the firm’s energy-related M&A matters.

Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP ‘s Cardiff team forms a key component of the firm’s multi-disciplinary/office offering to developers, investors and an increasing roster of financiers engaged in energy, transport and social infrastructure projects including those structured on a PFI/PPP basis. The team is particularly well-known for its renewable energy projects expertise, where it is able to provide corporate, real estate, regulatory and financing input on many large international mandates handled by the firm. Corporate partner Michelle Davies is noted for her clean energy projects expertise, work which regularly sees her involved in global deals, including in the Middle East. Iwan Walters recently relocated to the firm’s Dubai office.
London > Projects, energy and natural resources > Power (including electricity, nuclear and renewables)
The energy team at Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP stands out for its work on projects in emerging markets, transactional work for Chinese state-owned enterprises and ‘whole lifecycle’ nuclear work. Michelle Davies, who set up the firm’s international clean energy and sustainability Group 17 years ago, continues to lead that group from the Cardiff office, working in tandem with energy and infrastructure co-head Robert Pitcher in London. Stephen Hill recently led the firm’s team on one of Europe’s largest solar transactions during 2018 – infrastructure fund Greencoat Solar Assets II’s purchase of 24 solar farms across the UK. Construction and engineering expert Jessica Neuberger joined the firm from Ashurst while Conrad Purcell left for Bird & Bird LLP .
