Claire is a Principal Associate in our Litigation and Dispute Management group. She specialises in managing disputes for major domestic and international companies, with particular experience of disputes within the energy sector and regulatory/fraud disputes.

Her recent experience within the energy sector includes: advising an energy client in relation to a major Ofgem investigation and enforcement proceedings lasting in excess of 2 years, which led to the first significant settlement of an Ofgem investigation prior to the oral hearing stage; advising a major energy supplier in relation to a regulatory investigation under Chapter 1 of the Competition Act; advising an energy supplier in relation to threatened enforcement action by Ofgem concerning its billing arrangements and the potential impact on consumer prices; advising the owners of a power station in relation to the impact of the EU Regulation on Wholesale Energy Markets Integrity and Transparency (REMIT); and advising various energy clients in relation to a range of breach of contract claims.

Claire’s recent experience outside of the energy sector includes: acting for five of the world's leading producers of electrical/electronic equipment in respect of allegations of price fixing and/or abuse of a dominant position in relation to the WEEE Regulations; acting for a telecoms client to investigate whistleblower allegations that contracts were being awarded on the payment of bribes; and advising a global IT consultancy firm in relation to potential breaches of the Bribery Act in India.

Claire has been involved in carrying out search orders to obtain evidence relating to a suspected fraud, advising clients subject to a dawn raid, and has managed an outsourced disclosure exercise in India.

Claire regularly provides tailored training to clients on all aspects of commercial dispute resolution, with particular emphasis on regulatory and enforcement action in the energy sector and bribery and corruption issues.

Claire is the author of various articles in relation to issues affecting the energy sector, including recent articles on the impact of the Regulation on Energy Market Integrity and Transparency (REMIT).
