Michael is a Senior Associate in our Litigation and Dispute Management group specialising in non-contentious and contentious Construction & Engineering matters. Michael advises clients on all forms of procurement and dispute resolution across a number of commercial sectors including energy and natural resources, infrastructure and transport and real estate.

Michael’s recent experience includes:

Energy and Natural Resources

Advising an international energy utility group in separate adjudication dispute proceedings concerning generation plant and transmission works. Advising the same group on bespoke amendments to the NEC standard form contract for the procurement of a pontoon jetty to service offshore wind farms.

Advising an international mineral and aggregate producer on the procurement of combined heat and power plants units at sites across the United Kingdom. This involved negotiating and amending the MF1 standard form of contract.

Advised an international water utility group on numerous asset and network maintenance framework agreements on an NEC call-off contracts basis and has also acted in expert determination proceedings and drafted bespoke sub-contracting agreements for network maintenance services for the same group.

Infrastructure & Transport

Key client contact for an international infrastructure contractor, and acting for them on a series of adjudication dispute matters under infrastructure network contracts.

Real Estate

Key client contact for a national developer and contractor client, acting on a series of hotel and student accommodation developments, advising on all construction related documentation and aspects of the transactions. This involved amending the JCT suite of contracts and bespoke consultant and sub-contractor appointments.

Advised a series of development, occupier and funder clients on the procurement of new-build, refurbishment and re-fit developments throughout the UK in the mixed use, commercial, residential and industrial sectors.
