Ed is an Associate in our Tax team who advises in particular on indirect taxation, tax disputes and finance tax in our London office. Ed’s experience includes litigating at the First Tier Tribunal (Tax Chamber) and Court of Appeal in complex VAT disputes as well as providing advice on all areas of taxation to financial institutions (including banks and other corporate lenders), corporates, public authorities and property undertakings.
Ed’s recent experience includes:
• litigating before the First-tier Tribunal (Tax Chamber) in respect of a VAT partial exemption issue for a well-known postal retailer;
• litigating before the Court of Appeal in respect of a complex VAT grouping issue;
• Advising clients from the pharmaceutical, retail, financial services and distribution sectors on a number of indirect taxes including VAT, insurance premium tax and customs duties; and
• Advising various corporates and funds on VAT deductibility and other VAT issues.
Ed was previously a paralegal in our financial services disputes and investigations team, specialising in corporate crime, and has completed training seats in Competition (EU and Trade), Pensions and Tax.
Ed has also recently been noted as a “key lawyer” in the Legal 500.
