Ian is our International Managing Partner. He is responsible for the firm’s practice outside of the UK. He is also a member of the Executive, the International Strategy Group, the Senior Management Team and the Senior Management sponsor for gender diversity in the partnership, leading the Gender Working Party. He joined the firm in 1997 and became a partner in 1999.

Previous senior roles have included leadership of our Litigation Practice Group, and our Regulatory Product Group, and Executive responsibility for the Middle East.

He spent the first part of his career with a Magic Circle firm, working both in the City and in Asia, with stints in Tokyo and Hong Kong. Much of the work he has handled has involved an international element. This covers a wide range of contentious matters, including financial services and regulatory cases, international arbitration, IT disputes and energy and utilities issues. He has also worked for the firm's groundbreaking inquiries and investigations team, playing a senior role on the Bloody Sunday and Harold Shipman Inquiries, as well as managing substantial claims for the UK Government arising out of the foot and mouth crisis of 2001.

He is client partner for two of the firm’s key accounts – Vodafone and Severn Trent.
