Roma is a senior associate in our Shipping team.  Roma advises on contentious matters, including disputes arising out of charterparties and bills of lading, ship building contracts, and contracts of affreightment. Her experience is mostly in dry shipping. Roma advises a range of clients including shipowners, charterers, P&I Clubs and shipyards.

Her recent experience includes advising a UAE based shipowner in dispute with a ship builder over delays in the building of a series of vessels, which involved issues of force majeure, fraud, jurisdiction and international arbitration. She has also advised charterers in relation to the defence of a claim for demurrage, deviation and hedging losses arising out of Owners’ breach charterparty. She regularly advises clients in relation to all aspects of LMAA arbitration.

Roma has recently completed a secondment with an International Group P&I Club, where she worked in the Freight, Defence and Demurrage Department. During her secondment Roma advised the P&I Club’s Members in relation to Charterparty and contractual disputes, including unpaid hire, withdrawal, liens, unsafe port claims, disputes with bunker suppliers, and shipowners' maintenance obligations.

Roma joined the Shipping team in 2010, after completing her training contract with Eversheds.
