Ronald is a consultant in our litigation and dispute management practice group. He was accredited by CEDR as a Mediator in 1993. He has been a member of the CEDR training Faculty since 1998 and trains over 150 mediators annually. After retiring as regional senior partner in 2002, Ronald has been head of ADR for the firm worldwide

His experience over the last few years is of mediations at an average rate of about two a month. The range of subject matter has been extremely wide, reflecting his very wide career as a civil litigator. His mediation experience includes a number of mediations in Scotland (including his and Scotland's first mediations) as well as in the UK and Ireland. Overall, he has done over 700 mediations.

Specifically he has been involved in: an international shipping case concerning cargo damage; a £1m per annum plus turnover dispute concerning IT equipment support where settlement was achieved with a new contract negotiated through the Mediation and subsequently repeated in a new Pan European Contract; an engineering dispute involving issues of alleged defective hydraulic systems and process engineering; a £138 million dispute concerning 7 major hospitals and a leading insurance company; as a member of the CAMS (Civil Appeals Mediation Scheme) panel, he has handled a wide-ranging number of cases involving personal injuries, professional breaches of trust and commercial contract cases with values varying from £15,000 to £1.3M.
 
Ronald has extensive and ongoing experience in promoting, setting up and developing mediation and training in mediation skills for mediators, law firms, in house mediation schemes and Governments in over 20 foreign countries in the UK and the mainland EU, Africa (Nigeria), the Middle East (Turkey and Syria) and Asia (Pakistan, Bangladesh, Hong Kong and Malaysia). He was the key ADR expert for the EC project 'Better Access to Justice' in Turkey. The firm was the winner in 2008 of the CEDR Professional Firms Award for mediation development.
