Ele is a Partner in our Human Resources group, specialising in pensions.

Ele advises both trustees and employers on a full range of pensions issues including: the consolidation and updating of scheme documents; advising employers and trustees on multi-scheme mergers; representing trustees and employers in negotiations regarding deficit recovery plans; advising employers and trustees on scheme changes, scheme wind-ups and scheme restructures.

Ele also regularly advises on the pensions aspects of large corporate sales and acquisitions and has been involved in a number of Clearance applications.

Ele's most recent experience includes:

  • advising employers and trustees on the legal aspects of inducements and liability management exercises; 
  • advising employers and trustees on the alternatives to the payment of the employer debt including the negotiation of apportionment and withdrawal arrangements; 
  • advice on the pensions implications of multi- jurisdictional transactions and the interplay between the employer debt legislation and tax; 
  • She is regarded by Chambers Directory as a leading individual in the field of pensions and is noted for her "desire to find resolutions rather than score points" and her "ability to articulate the law and ensure a clarity of understanding".

Ele is a regular speaker at Pensions Briefing seminars. She is a former chair of the local National Association of Pensions Funds group, and the former secretary of the North Western branch of Association of Pensions Lawyers.
