Simon is a partner in our corporate group. He divides his time between our Manchester office where he is Office Location Head for our Company Commercial Group and our Paris office. He specialises in advising on substantial corporate finance transactions including initial public offerings, fundraisings, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and corporate restructurings. He typically represents substantial corporates, both public and private, and also entrepreneurs. He has particular experience in the aviation sector advising both airlines and airports and the healthcare sector where he advises several of the largest care home providers in the UK.

Simon’s clients include Wincanton plc, Lookers plc, Flybe Group plc, Manchester Airport Group, Four Seasons Healthcare, Barchester Healthcare, Orchard Healthcare, API Group plc, Booker Group plc, Latium Group, Multisol Group and Speedy Hire plc.

Simon’s recent experience includes advising Flybe Group on its £150m equity fundraising on the London Stock Exchange, Lookers plc on its £87m acquisition of Benfield Motor Group, Entu plc on its £66m initial public offering, Flybe Group on its class 1 exchange of landing slots at Gatwick airport with Easyjet, Epwin Group plc on its £135m initial public offering, Flybe Group plc on a joint venture with Finnair to acquire Finnish airline Finncom, Booker Group plc on its £140m acquisition of Makro, Flybe Group on its £215m admission to the London Stock Exchange, Four Seasons Healthcare in respect of the company’s £850m acquisition by Terra Firma and its separate £750m re-financing and Flybe Group on its acquisition of BA Connect from British Airways.

Under the leadership of global M&A co-chair Richard Moulton , Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP has continued to strengthen its position in the London market with a number of key lateral hires over the past 12 months. Notable additions include Waltter Kulvik, a specialist in investment transactions who joined the team from Ashurst‘s Singapore office in May 2022, as well as Martin Mankabady and Adriana Cotter; corporate insurance and regulatory partners who were previously at Dentons until January 2022. The depth of Robin Johnson‘s cross-border transactional acumen ensures that he is regularly sought out for complex, multi-jurisdictional deals across a number of sectors, whereas Simon Masters international M&A capabilities are especially concentrated in French, Italian, Spanish and Brazilian deals. Chris Halliday heads up the industrial transactions desk, where Antony Walsh is also a key contact. Halliday and Walsh are recommended for their additional expertise in insurance and technology, respectively.
