Claire Randall-Smith is a Partner in our Construction and Engineering Group and is based in our Manchester office. She is a construction litigator specialising in the resolution and avoidance of high value, technically complex, construction and engineering disputes arising from large scale infrastructure projects, the built environment and the resources and energy sector. Claire’s dispute experience extends to litigation, adjudication, mediation, domestic and international arbitration and across the range of standard form and bespoke construction contracts including NEC, JCT, ICE, MF1 and MF2. She also has the benefit of her experience in the construction insurance sector which proves invaluable with any interface between insured / non-insured related issues. Claire is ranked as a Key Lawyer in Legal 500 in which she is recognised by clients as being “knowledgeable and tenacious” Her recent experience includes acting for: a leading civil engineering contractor in relation to a long running Energy from Waste project; (value c.20m); a JV company in relation to a large infrastructure project involving extension of time, delay and disruption claims (value c.10m); a global renewable energy company in relation to one of its onshore wind power farm with disputes pertaining to defects and extensions of time for delay (value c.£5m); a global glass recycling company in respect of a dispute with a leading international contractor in the design and construction of a glass recycling plant (value c.£10m); National Rail operator in a large rail infrastructure project involving a significant delay and defects claim value c.30m
