Mark is a Partner in our commercial disputes and international arbitration group. He handles a broad spectrum of litigation and international arbitration work, assisting clients from a range of industry sectors – both private and public – in managing complex disputes and commercial risk.

Mark’s experience encompasses business-critical contract disputes and crisis management, post-M&A disputes – including corporate warranty/indemnity claims, completion accounts claims and shareholder disputes – judicial reviews, regulatory investigations and tax-related disputes. Mark also has significant experience of conducting alternative dispute resolution processes such as mediation.

Mark is a lead Partner in our specialist energy disputes and regulatory practice acting for major industry clients such as Shell, GDF Suez/Engie, GE, Halliburton, National Grid, EDF, RWE Npower, Eni and Essar. Mark also represents national oil companies.

Mark is recommended by Chambers & Partners and Legal 500.

Mark joined Eversheds from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in 2009. Mark read law at Downing College, Cambridge University.

Mark’s experience includes representing:

  • a national oil company in a multi-billion dollar gas sales dispute arising in the Middle East;
  • a global consumer product manufacturer in proceedings for recovery of multi-million pound damages arising from failure of a gas processing system;
  • a consortium of UK local authorities in multiple adjudications and commercial court proceedings relating a £600m Private Finance Initiative recycling and energy from waste project;
  • the world’s largest independent power producer in claims against the former owners of Europe’s biggest gas-fired power station;
  • a global consumer goods client in defending warranty claims brought following disposal of various ‘super-brand’ business divisions;
  • a pharmaceuticals plc in one of the largest ever transfer pricing disputes with HMRC; and
  • an oil super-major in defending complex group action proceedings arising from oil spills in North Africa.
