Dispute resolution

Within: Dispute resolution

Leading insurance firm Osterling Abogados unsurprisingly shines in the contentious arena, where it acts for global insurers as well as domestic and international companies. Seasoned litigator Enrique Ferrando Gamarra heads the team and led advice to Zurich Insurance concerning claims valued at $60m following the collapse of the Headrace Tunnel in the Huánuco region. He is also representing Peruvian insurer and reinsurer Rimac Seguros y Reaseguros in a $30m arbitration with policy holder Luz del Sur concerning the construction of a hydropower plant in Machu Picchu, Cusco. Fellow partners Mauricio Martinez and Kodiak Semsch can draw upon the support of capable senior associates Gabriel Loli León and Miguel Delgado.

Within: Insurance

Osterling Abogadosknows the insurance market’, is a ‘sophisticated law firm, perfectly able to work with foreign clients and foreign colleagues’ and a ‘safe bet in Peru’. It acts for a raft of global insurers and reinsurers with business locally: it is assisting AXA Brasil to register as a foreign reinsurer with regulator the Superindendency of Banking and Insurance (SBS), and recently concluded a $60m claim in the construction sector on behalf of another well-known international reinsurer. The firm’s premier reputation in this field is largely the result of Enrique Ferrando, who is ‘very well known in international forums’. He is supported by capable senior associates Gabriel Loli León and Rabeth Pareja Torres. The firm has ‘good people to work within international teams’ and is ‘ready to respond’.
