The disputes team at Osterling Abogados is ‘extremely hands on, knowledgeable and dedicated‘. A market leader in insurance law, it acts for most of the largest insurance companies in Peru, but also boasts a significant client roster of mining, energy, construction and real estate companies, as well as private clients. The practice has a lead role in the developing case law concerning a historical instance of compulsory land appropriation by the State, a matter in which it is acting for Inmobiliaria Santa Felicia in a $85m claim, and for Constructora Industrial y Comercial Vulcano in a separate $5m claim. The four-partner practice is co-led by Mauricio Martínez, client partner to top local insurer Rimac Seguros y Reaseguros, and Enrique Ferrando, a ‘fierce arbitration practitioner‘ who is ‘extremely well-versed in Peruvian law‘; it can also call on experienced litigator Kodiak Semsch and recently promoted Gabriel Loli.(Next Generation Partners)
Established market leader Osterling Abogados has ‘deep and incomparable knowledge of the insurance business, practice and regulation‘, largely due to the expertise of head partner Enrique Ferrando, described as a ‘star individual‘ and the ‘best insurance lawyer in the field‘. The practice is lead adviser to domestic insurance giant Rimac Seguros y Reaseguros, which it is currently defending in a $30m arbitration against Luz del Sur concerning a policy covering a key hydropower project in Machu Picchu. Other clients include Arthur J Gallagher Perú Corredores de Seguros, Swiss Re International and QBE Insurance (Europe) among many others. ‘Great asset‘ Gabriel Loli was made-up to partner, and experienced Rabeth Pareja was promoted to senior associate.
