Position

Partner of the Firm since 1986. Joined the Bustamante & Bustamante Law Firm 30 years ago. Her professional practice started in administrative law and then moved on to intellectual property law and health legislation. Heads the Firm’s Intellectual Property Department. Pioneer in the creation of the Firm’s regulatory department presently formed by a large group of professional technicians, such as chemical engineers, biochemists, and chemical experts, reaping real results for accreditation paperwork in different certification processes. Her team handles the processing of health registrations, unified registrations, health notices, and related matters. These include labeling, community and international health legislations; premarketing stages for food products and beverages, personal hygiene products, cosmetics, medicines, medical devices, pet food, fish food, feed for other animals, fertilizers, pesticides, farming products, and so forth. The regulatory department, which she also leads, regularly issues informative bulletins about technical matters of interest. Focus areas in which she has broad experience and expertise are intellectual property, administrative law, information technology law, health code, and consumer protection legislation.

Career

Consultant for the European Community and Andean Community with respect to a project for labeling food products and beverages. Participated in the UNDP-ALADI (Latin American Integration Association), compiling information on environmental regulations and standards for exporting key products. Has also held key positions at different courts: co-judge, judge, and magistrate of District Administrative Litigation Court 1. Former president and vice-president of the Ecuadorian-Peruvian Chamber of Commerce and Integration. Formerly, national delegate to the ASIPI (Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property).
