Seth has been a resident of MoFo’s Tokyo office since 2010 and partner at the firm since 2020. Seth’s practice is concentrated on transactions and counselling involving intellectual property and technology, with an emphasis on licensing arrangements, technology transfers, joint development activities and registering and monetizing intellectual property assets. Seth advises clients on matters such as software and content licensing arrangements, trademark licenses and branding strategies, outsourcing and cloud computing transactions, open source software, AI, and blockchain applications, and has experience counseling companies in a variety of fields, including the IT, pharmaceutical and telecommunications industries. Seth is also involved in structuring and negotiating patent licensing arrangements and advising on intellectual property issues relevant to investments in emerging companies and project finance and development activities.

Morrison Foerster draws on the strength of the firm’s corporate and IP practices to provide clients with advice on technology transactions. The team specialises in content issues, IP development work, branding mandates, licensing matters and technology and partnering transactions leveraging the firm’s strong cross-border transactional and litigation expertise. Industries of expertise include the software and hardware, semiconductor, life sciences, IP, and biotechnology industries. The practice is led by Masato Hayakawa, who is an IP structuring and negotiation expert, and fields Yukihiro Terazawa, who is a key contact for contentious matters relating to commercial technology transactions. M&A head Ken Siegel also contributes to the practice along with newly elected partner Seth Graham, who handles licensing agreements, joint development activities and IP asset monetisation matters. At the non-partner level, senior associate Aya Eguchi advises on IP acquisitions, developments and transfers.
