Astrid advises internationally based clients and their family offices, trustees and private banks on international trust, tax and wealth transfer issues. Astrid’s practice has particular emphasis on the US, the UK, Continental Europe and the Middle East. Astrid has particular expertise in the structuring of established and start-up family owned businesses through the use of trusts, foundations, and holding companies. She works extensively with the firm’s corporate tax teams in the UK and the US to develop and implement holding structures for businesses and investments which take account of both personal and corporate tax issues affecting the client, their family and their businesses.

Ziva Robertson heads the team at McDermott Will & Emery UK LLP, which routinely acts in some of the most high value trusts, estates, wills and probate matters as well as advising on commercial issues, fund structuring and regulatory advice. Starting January 1st, 2013, a new tax law (Law No. 822, Tax Concertation Law) came into force in and completely changed the taxation system in Nicaragua. Two years later a new law was issued by the National Assembly containing more than 80 amendments, additions and repeals (Law No 891) which came into force December 18th, 2014.
