Robert Hamill is a partner in Mayer Brown's London office focusing on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures. He has particular experience in the energy sector and co-heads the firm's global energy group. Robert joined Mayer Brown as a partner in 2002.

Mayer Brown International LLP has longstanding relationships with some of the AIM market's most prominent and active NOMADs; practice head Kate Ball-Dodd, Robert Flanigan and associate Simon Allison acted for Investec Bank in the £40.7m placing of shares in Hollywood Bowl Group by way of an accelerated bookbuild. Flanigan and Allison also worked with Colin Scagell to advise Peel Hunt and Panmure Gordon as joint bookrunners on the £9.8m placing of new shares by Blancco Technology Group (also by way of an accelerated bookbuild). The team is also a strong performer acting for issuers, both on AIM and overseas exchanges, attracting particular praise for 'its knowledge and understanding of the FPI rules, Sarbanes-Oxley, AIM rules and Companies Act'; it is 'a one-stop shop for all legal compliance questions'. A recent highlight involved Robert Hamill and Rebecca Bothamley advising Velocys on a circa £18.4m firm placing and placing and open offer to fund an ongoing renewable fuels biorefinery. Other corporate clients include Entertainment One, Shearwater Group Plc, GBGI and Eland Oil & Gas.

Ball-Dodd and¬†Richard Smith¬†advised Touchstone Innovations on its all-share takeover offer by IP Group, valuing Touchstone at ¬£500m. Richard Page¬†(who has ‚Äėan innate ability to assimilate detailed information‚Äô) acted¬†on the ¬£1.15bn sale of The Leadenhall Building to Hong Kong-listed property development company C C Land. The ‚Äėsolution-driven‚Äô¬†Robert Hamill¬†acted for Shearwater Group on the acquisitions of Newable Consulting and of SecurEnvoy.¬†Rebecca Bothamley¬†was promoted to partnership, while¬†Patrick Hennessy¬†and¬†Sam Webster¬†were both promoted to counsel. Robert Hamill spearheads the oil and gas offering at Mayer Brown International LLP and focuses on corporate finance, M&A and joint ventures. Along with the recently promoted partner Rebecca Bothamley he handled the equity fundraising of $19.5m for ongoing drilling operations in the Niger Delta on behalf of Eland Oil & Gas whom he also advised on shipping and offtake agreements. Devi Shah  and of counsel Alexandra Wood acted for the supervisors of Alpha Petroleum in the ongoing implementation of a company voluntary agreement of North Sea development and production company Alpha Petroleum. Salamander Solutions instructed the group to oversee its acquisition of MC AAA as part of its wider consolidation of heater cable technology companies.

Mayer Brown International LLP’s expertise spans the music, publishing and broadcasting sectors and it regularly acts for major corporate clients and financial institutions on matters relating to advertising and social media. It acted for Eastern European Media Holdings on the sale of its minority holding in Nova Broadcasting Group to PPF Group alongside the majority seller, MTG Broadcasting. Hachette, Village Roadshow, Perrigo, Royal Institute of International Affairs, Modern Times Group, HSBC, Publishers Association, Hibu and Entertainment One are also clients. Team head Miles Robinson represents clients in substantial contractual and commercial disputes in the publishing and music industries. Robert Hamill is active on corporate finance, M&A and joint ventures and Richard Page  is noted for his corporate finance and transactional experience.
