Felipe Cubero´s legal practice focuses on Corporate / M&A, Dispute Resolution and Real Estate. He represents various companies and advises them on structuring and implementing joint ventures and other types of associations aimed to create distribution and cooperation structures. He has experience advising Colombian and international clients in structuring and incorporating business undertakings in Colombia and foreign investments, and has actively participated in the M&A practice. In the last years he has advised corporate and M&A deals with particular focus on private equity clients (Advent International, Southern Bridge Capital, Riverwood Capital, among others) and in transactions involving large real estate assets for clients such as Equity International, Terranum or Southern Bridge Capital. He has broad experience in advising clients in the establishing of distribution networks in Colombia , having organized distributorship and franchise structures for clients such as Nestlé, Heineken, Tele Pizza, Burger King and others. Felipe is the author of the book “Sociedad por Acciones Simplificadas (SAS): Novedades, Aciertos y Desaciertos”, published in 2012 by Grupo Editorial Ibañez, together with the Pontificia Unviversidad Javeriana and Bancolombia. In 1993 he participated as co-author for a legal comparative study about commercial arbitration, issued by the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá and the Basque Magazine of Procedural Law and Arbitration (Spain). He has written articles about insolvency, arbitration, partnerships and contract matters. Since 1995, he has lectured on commercial law, contracts and business law for various undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the Universidad de Los Andes, Universidad del Rosario and Universidad Javeriana. Prior to joining the firm, he was director of private law for the financial group, composed of Fundación Social and its companies (1998-2000), legal secretary at Fiducomercio S.A. (1993-1994), and partner at Cuberos & Cia. Consultores (1995-1997). Chambers Latin America 2016 mentions: “Clients recognise the practice of Felipe Cuberos in the corporate sphere, particularly relating to contracts and acquisitions. Interviewees acknowledge his long-standing experience in this space”.

Felipe Cuberos is currently a member of the list of arbitrators of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá. In 2003 and 2004, he actively participated as the only Colombian member in the International Trade Center's pro-bono Committee on Joint Venture Model Contracts in Geneva, and is a consultant on the roster of the International Trade Centre (UNCTAD/WTO).

Clients of Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría appreciate the ‘agile, timely, deep and successful service’ with contributions that have been ‘decisive for the success of operations’. Claudia Barrero led the counsel to Odinsa in the indirect sale of a 51. 22% stake of Genpac and certain accounts receivable. Hernando Padilla advised Osorio Capital on its acquisition of a majority stake in Colombian microfinance company Crezcamos; the firm also advised on a loan obtained by Osorio for the acquisition of the holding. Martín Acero, Felipe Cuberos, Juan Carlos Rocha and recently appointed partner Nicolás Tirado also head the practice alongside Barrero and Padilla. Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría has been involved in significant transactions in the Colombian market and its wider services cover all legal aspects related to the structuring and development of real estate projects; additionally, it has an urban law sub-group which advises public and private entities on planning, land management, and land use execution and procedures. Juan Carlos Rocha led advice to Fondo Privado de Capital–Fondo Inmobiliario Colombia on the acquisition of a 49% fiduciary interest in real estate trust Viva Malls in which Exito Group holds the remaining 51% stake. The practice is also acting for Drummond on real estate matters regarding rural estate properties. Corporate partner Felipe Cuberos is also active in the sector, particularly with private equity clients and on significant real estate transactional matters, while principal associate Silvia Avendaño is noted for real estate- associated trusts and funds, project structuring and project development contracts. Colvalor Propiedades Colombianas, Anglo Gold Ashanti, H&M and Ripley International are clients.
