Benjamin Naftalis is a partner in the New York office of Latham & Watkins. He serves as a global Co-chair of the White Collar Defense & Investigations Practice and is a member of the Financial Institutions Industry Group.  A former federal prosecutor, Mr. Naftalis is a trial lawyer who represents financial institutions, corporations, and individuals in white collar criminal defense and regulatory matters, internal investigations, complex civil litigation, cybersecurity matters, and a range of other sensitive situations, throughout the US and internationally.

Latham & Watkins LLP’s global practice is led by San Francisco-based Steven Bauer, New York-based Benjamin Naftalis and ‘outstanding advocateKathryn Ruemmler in Washington DC, who is ‘without equal in handling risk’. Ruemmler is representing former US Ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, in multiple congressional investigations into Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential election. In New York, Christopher Clark represented Lee Stewart, a former Rabobank trader and cooperating witness in the high-profile LIBOR prosecution. On the corporate side, the team is representing Dow Chemical in an FCA lawsuit relating to a whistleblower allegation that the defendant owed federal government $70bn in fines. ‘Excellent litigatorJonathan Su is also recommended. Nicholas McQuaid joined the New York office from the Obama White House in June 2017.
