Steven Croley is a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Litigation & Trial Department and the Environment, Land & Resources Department.

Prior to joining Latham, Mr. Croley served as General Counsel for the United States Department of Energy. He oversaw all of the Department’s legal activities including litigation, regulation, licensing, loans, intellectual property, procurement, ethics, cyber, sensitive transactions, and energy law and policy across all sources of fuel — fossil, renewable and nuclear. Mr. Croley also actively managed the Department’s major litigation strategy and settlement decisions, with special focus on environmental litigation concerning the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. He also supervised the Department’s activities under the National Environmental Policy Act, and oversaw the Department’s responses to congressional oversight requests, Government Accountability Office investigations, Inspector General inquiries, whistleblower matters and third-party information requests.
