Jason Burt is a counsel in the Washington, D.C. office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Complex Commercial Litigation Practice. He is a litigator focused primarily on complex business litigation, and has successfully tried both civil and criminal matters in federal and state courts across the country and in arbitrations and mediations.
Mr. Burt recently rejoined Latham after serving as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Department of Justice (DOJ) for the District of Utah. While at DOJ, Mr. Burt prosecuted all manner of financial and economic crimes, including securities frauds, Ponzi schemes, tax crimes and bank frauds and worked closely with various governmental and self-regulatory agencies including the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC); Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI); Internal Revenue Service (IRS); Federal Trade Commission (FTC); Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC); and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
