Position

Scott is the leader of Kirkland’s Derivatives Practice and a senior member of the Asset Finance and Securitization Practice. Scott is a leading counsel to end users, representing clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to many of the world’s preeminent private equity funds and their portfolio companies in connection with structuring, negotiating and documenting interest rate, currency, energy, commodity, credit and equity derivative transactions. Scott also counsels clients on derivatives regulation and derivatives issues in M&A, restructuring and securitization matters.

Acting primarily for corporate end-users and prominent investment funds, Kirkland & Ellis LLP is regularly involved in interest rate, currency and commodity hedging deals in connection with larger corporate transactions and bankruptcy matters. Headed by Scott Gordon, the derivatives team has acted for energy companies and asset managers including Apax Partner, Bain Capital and Blackstone in various hedging arrangements relating to M&A and energy asset transactions. Another contact is Drue Santora, who advises on US and European derivatives regulatory compliance and also has varied transactional experience from currency to equity derivatives.
