Sean LaceyKirkland & Ellis International LLP

Acting on a standalone basis, as well as leveraging its market-leading private equity sponsor roster, the ‘highly responsive‘ team at Kirkland & Ellis International LLP provides ‘very commercial advice’ to funds as creditors/investors, as well as on the debtor front. Co-headed by the vastly experienced Partha Kar and Kon Asimacopoulos, the team continues to shape the market, often deploying the use of novel/first-of-kind techniques to elicit the optimal results for clients in large-scale multi-jurisdictional matters. As well as drawing upon deep knowledge of UK/European restructuring tools (including as it relates to the newly enacted Restructuring Plan) the team has the flexibility to utilise US Chapter 11 protections. Indeed, the firm regularly works alongside practitioners in the US, including its recent high-profile work for leading regional aircraft lessor Nordic Aviation Capital, helping it to successfully emerge from Chapter 11. Sean Lacey was involved in the aforementioned matter, although his primary forte remains on the creditor/investor-side, where he excels at handling financial restructurings, special situations investing and credit-led opportunities. Other key members of the team include retail restructuring guru Elaine Nolan and recently promoted partner Gabe Harley , who provides ‘high quality advice and service’ to debtors and creditors on cross-border restructurings and insolvencies.
